EOL

From Bicom Systems Wiki

What is End of Life?

An End-of-life (EOL) product is a product that does not receive continuing support, either because existing marketing, support and other processes are terminated, or it is at the end of its useful life. This means we will no longer offer support for that version of software. With this, the software version has reached a full EOL state. In case you contact our support with an issue regarding a version of software that has reached full EOL, the only way to help you would be through update or upgrade of your system. There are 3 different levels of EOL.

Level I: End of Development

This means no new features and improvements will be introduced into the product version. In most cases, that means there will be no minor software versions released, ex. no more 1.x versions of the product. The product will still have occasional bug and security fixes introduced, mostly through micro versions, ex. 1.x.y versions.

Level II: End of Security Fixes and Maintenance

This means no bug fixes, nor security fixes will be introduced into the software. Essentially, no new versions of the software will be released in that version branch.

When this happens, we highly suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of the software that is being developed on a regular basis. In most cases, we will still offer support for the software version in the form of technical assistance, advice, and workarounds.

Level III: End of Support

This means we will no longer offer support for that version of software. With this, the software version has reached a full EOL state. In case you contact our support with an issue regarding a version of software that has reached full EOL, the only way to help you would be through update or upgrade of your system.
